Peak Classic Trails

Pre-1965 classic motorcycle trail riding in the Peak District National Park.

If you have a classic trail bike and like the idea of 2 days guided trail riding around the Peak District with a small group then we can offer you a great location with top facilities.  We ride Ajs/Matchless singles and are happy to see all types of classic bikes being used on green lanes.

Here is an example itinery :-

Day 1 – arrive after 4pm at Bushey Heath Farm to unload bike, fettle, settle into bunk barn accommodation or even go for a walk!  In the evening when the whole group is together we have a shared home cooked meal in one of the bunk barns and discuss the next days activities.  Later on the routes are explained and you copy them to your own map.  We discuss the format and important points for riding as a group, safety, meals etc.

Day 2 – after a self service breakfast and a quick fettle and equipment check all riders set off of the first days riding in the Dark Peak, mainly gritstone and quite muddy along so great trails with fantastic views.  Lunch at the agreed cafe and then the afternoon to complete the circuit.  The trails are 50/50 trail and road and range from 80-120 miles in a day, depending on riders and machines (all age of machines accepted – but pre 1930s rigids are harder going than a 1960s C15!)  Late pm we arrive back at Bushey Heath Farm for a clean down, shower and out for a pub meal in the village to recount the days exploits.  Taxi back for 10.30.

Day 3 – as day 2 but we head off into the White Peak, more limestone and rocky than the day before.  Late pm we arrive back at Bushey Heath Farm for a clean down, shower and to head off home, or stay the extra night free, your choice.

Day 4 – Clean up, load up and departure by 12, noon.

2010 Dates

June – Fri 25th till Mon 28th.  July – Tues 20th till Fri 23rd.

Tour Conditions

You are an adult on your own bike and you are not compelled to do anything whilst being guided.  The tours are for a sensible, careful and considerate use of the National Parks legal byways and trails.  We aim to enjoy the day at a calm pace and are not for those looking for an enduro!  We will never purposefully guide you down an illegal trail and so you are responsible for the legal position of you and your machine.  You must be insured and fully road legal.  Your machine must be serviceable and you need to be confident of its mechanical condition.  You will need to have your own breakdown recovery cover.  Visitors bikes can be kept overnight in our motorcycle garage, however you need to notify your own insurance company of this.  On a casual basis we may be able to offer a limited recovery service and mechanical assistance.

Booking Conditions

The 2 day tour includes 2 nights’ bed and breakfast bunk barn shared accommodation (although you are welcome to stay the third night free if you have a long way to travel), the 2 days trail riding, 2 evening meals (included the taxi ride home on day 2) and costs £250.

This does not include fuel, insurance, any equipment, machine breakdown recovery, medical cover or lunches.

A non-refundable deposit of £125 secures your place.

The balance of £125 is payable at least 4 weeks before you arrive.

We will not refund any monies in case of injury, breakdown or for any other reason, so please take out holiday and cancellation insurance.  If, in the unlikely event, we cancel your tour we will refund all monies paid.
